Dried and thin-type smoked bonito flakes.
Made using specially selected skipjack tuna fish from Bretagne, France.
Ideal for preparing dashi (Japanese broth)or as a topping.
It adds aroma and umami. It pairs perfectly with soy sauce.
Serving Suggestions:
Perfect for dishes that benefit from delicate flavors, such as miso soup, clear broth, or chawanmushi (savory egg custard).
The recommended simmering time is around 30 seconds to 1 minute. Boiling for too long may result in unwanted bitterness.
Sprinkle over ohitashi (boiled greens) or chilled tofu.
Use as a topping for okonomiyaki or takoyaki.
Place it directly on steamed rice, add a splash of soy sauce, and you have an instant okaka gohan (bonito flake rice bowl).
